Default Installed Bilsteins Today

Bought a set of Bilsteins from AutoAnything.com for under $300 shipped. Wasn't expecting it but Fed-Ex Ground delivered them yesterday (Saturday). I guess it took me about 3 1/2 hours from start to finish.

I took a bit of time to scrub the wheels with Bar Keeper's Friend, the liquid compound, which makes the truck look great.

Took her out for a test ride and there's a big difference. The old shocks were rotted and did not expand after they were compressed.

The front shocks were the most work. Cut the top studs off with a sawzall. Once that was done it was a piece of cake.

When I did the rear shocks I jacked the truck up by the tow hitch and the shocks fit like a glove with the nylon band they come with. No need to drop the spare tire to get to the driver's side top nut.

Yeah, looks good now. Give it a month or so and those eccentric colors will be coated with "earth tone" colors. LOL

Thanks for the compliment

Throw another Zip tie around each boot if the one you already have on there brakes and lets any amount of dirt or water inside it voids any warranty you may have. Same with Rancho.

Thanks. Will do. I was wondering what was up with that. Someone hacked off half of it on the driver's side (I'm the 2nd owner).

Here's a pic of the driver's side. Can't figure out why the splash guard was cut away. Go figure ? Look familiar ????

Maybe someone got lazy and cut it instead of pulling it aside?

It wasn't cut, they come in two pieces, the other half is probably on the freeway where mine is. It is two pieces, so it doesn't rub on the tire when turning.

Sounds logical. But why is the passenger side 1 piece ?

Bump. Mine is the same way! I actually went to ford today and true to order another one for the drivers side and they said that that tiny little piece was all that I could get, said they stopped making the big one piece version a while ago.... Would really like to know if that's true....
